It’s a superfluous hardwired tendency in our brains to judge people based on the smallest of things. Name for example. Yeah what’s there in the name.
I imagined a traditional over-bred Indianized girl from 90s Bollywood movies when I heard the name Manushi Chhillar. Someone like “Maine Pyaar Kiya” actress Bhagyashree. But my idea of Manushi Chhillar doesn’t even come close to her real persona.
She may have a slightly funny desi name, she may be in the garb of glamorous clothing but she is a cool, dignified, graceful, queenlike young woman who is mature for 20 years of her age.
After bowling the judges in China with her answer to “Which professional should be paid highest”, her answer was “a mother should be paid the most, because she pulls of a job which no other professional can”, and her confidence and elegance she brought home the crown that had not touched Indian Mainland since 2000, a long drought in the history of beauty pageant and an utter impuissance on the part of beauty pageant regents.
The new queenly flavor of the world is made of fire, ice, stone and much more and it’s not just her beauty that earned her this title. She is way congress MP Shashi Tharoor or let me paraphrase “the blue-blooded intellectual in the seas of dunces”, surprisingly luxuriated in her glory by tweeting the most abysmal tweet which goes like:
“What a mistake to demonetise our currency! BJP should have realised that Indian cash dominates the globe: look, even our Chhillar has become Miss World!”

Yeah this coming from the same person who wrote “The Great Indian Novel” A shocker right?
Naturally this kind of action merits a same-in-the-vein strong reaction and we put on the expectance on the “subject” of tweet. The trivia gets interesting when the subject responds with equally insulting vigor and then more tweets and hassles follow making people deliciously wait for a raging storm.
But Manushi’s comeback left me speechless. She didn’t cave in to any retort just elicited a spot-on and contextually classy response. I personally declare that this girl is such an amazeballs.
“A girl who has just won the world isn’t going to be upset over a tongue-in-cheek remark. ‘Chillar’ talk is just small change - let’s not forget the ‘chill’ within Chhillar,” Manushi tweeted, and tagged Tharoor as well as Times Group Managing Director Vineet Jain.”
Exactly @vineetjaintimes agree with you on this. A girl who has just won the World isn’t going to be upset over a tongue-in-cheek remark. ‘Chillar’ talk is just small change - let’s not forget the ‘chill’ within Chhillar 🙂 @ShashiTharoor https://t.co/L5gqMf8hfi— Manushi Chhillar (@ManushiChhillar) 20 November 2017
Attagirl Manushi. That is so chic.
